AVONDALE, AZ -- The West Valley is set to get its first large scale movie production facility.
The project will be developed on 60 acres near 99th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard in Avondale.
The Phase 1 site plan for Avondale Live was approved at the Oct. 19 council meeting, according to the
West Valley View newspaper.
It will include a 65-foot-high movie studio and parking structure on the southwest corner of the site.
It will also include office and tourism buildings.
Future phases of Avondale Live will include shops, restaurants and even a residential district.
The first phase of Avondale Live is expected to cost about $80 million.
The project is expected to bring between 1,000 and 3,000 jobs to the city.
