AVONDALE, AZ -- Authorities say a child who was air-lifted to a Valley hospital after a 3-story fall in Avondale was alert and responding to paramedics at the scene on Wednesday.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the 3-year-old girl fell from a window at a residence near Dysart and McDowell roads around 5 p.m.

Avondale Police Spokesperson Rick Rodriguez said the girl's father was downstairs with another child when the 3-year-old fell out of the window. Officials said the girl's father called 9-1-1.

Rodriguez said it appears the incident was an accident.

Air15 video showed fire department crews and police at the Avondale apartment complex and the victim being loaded into a helicopter at a nearby park.

An open window could be seen in a third floor apartment and crime scene tape below.

Rodriguez said the girl's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, as she was alert and responding to paramedics at the scene.
