AVONDALE, AZ -- If you live in Avondale and you're looking for a way to give, the Avondale Fire Department could use your help.
Beginning November 30, firefighters will be collecting new toys and clothing for children in need this holiday season. Donations will be distributed to the Lions Club and the Agua Fria Food Bank.
The agencies will distribute the donations to adopted families in the community.
"Each year, dozens of children who would otherwise have gone without toys for the holidays, had presents to open thanks to the generous donations from people in the community," said Gary Siler, a firefighter with Avondale Fire and Rescue.
From November 30 through December 10 donations can be dropped off at Avondale Fire Station 172 or Avondale City Hall, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Avondale Firefighters will also take donations directly from the public at the Kohl's Store at McDowell and Dysart Road. They'll be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the weekends of December 5, and December 12.
