The
American Cancer Society is looking for individuals or groups who would like to help with this year's
Charity Runner during the
P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and 1/2 Marathon Weekend.
Meg Kondrich, Communication Manager for the ACS said, "We're really excited because this is the first year for Charity Runner in Phoenix.
Through the partnership with the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, participants have the opportunity to fundraise for the American Cancer Society as they prepare for the race.
All proceeds from the Charity Runner event benefits cancer patients and their family members here in our community through cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services.
"It's a great opportunity for people who want to help the American Cancer Society, but also help themselves in pursuing a healthy lifestyle," said Kondrich.
"That goes hand in hand with the mission of the American Cancer Society, edcucating people in how to live healthy lives, she added."
Volunteer Opportunities include:
- Helping at the American Cancer Society booth at the Marathon Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th (hours may vary).
- Also, volunteers are invited to cheer on runners at American Cancer Society stations on the race course Sunday, January 18th from aprox. 9:00am-12:30am.
There are two locations: Tempe Beach Park or at the intersection of Scottsdale and Thomas roads.
