As more and more airlines now offer wireless Internet access onboard, some are seeing more complaints from customers that other passengers are watching pornographic material.
Flight attendants form American Airlines recently have asked management to add filters to the Wi-Fi access, preventing passengers from viewing inappropriate sites on board.
Some passengers at Sky Harbor on Friday were concerned for the well being of children onboard.
“You can’t sensor those things,” said Penny Crandall. “They can just look over and watch.”
Others said if the passenger is paying for the service, they’re free to do whatever they like.
“It’s not my right to tell them what they can or can’t watch,” said passenger Brian Lamers. “It’d be like someone looking at your spreadsheet or your expenses.”
American Airline’s current Wi-Fi program is in a three to six month trial period, and the company plans on reviewing customer usage and feedback at the end of the service.
