Macy’s is making wishes come true for kids of all ages and charities this Christmas season.
The department-store chain is asking children to put letters to Santa in "R.H. Macy Santa Mail" boxes that can be found at Macy's stores.
Starting Sunday, Macy's will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for each letter received.
Officials hope to raise $1 million for the non-profit group, which grants wishes to ill children.
Macy's 2008 holiday campaign centers on 8-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon, who wrote to the New York Sun in 1897 to ask if Santa Claus was real.
The company's "Believe" campaign features letter-writing stations and mailboxes for Santa in all of its stores.
"'Believe' is the articulation of everything we treasure about the holiday season," Peter Sachse, national president of Macy's corporate marketing, said in a statement.
Kids can also get started on their letters by going to www.macys.com/believe and downloading a kit that includes official Santa letterhead and other components to help them compose letters.
