TEMPE, AZ -- High risk students, faculty and staff at Arizona State University received vaccinations for the H1N1 virus on campus Wednesday and Thursday.

ASU spokesperson Julie Newberg said those receiving the vaccinations include students, faculty and staff who are pregnant; obese; have heart disease; lung disease; asthma; kidney or liver disease; diabetes or metabolic disease; anemia or blood disorder; or other immune-compromising conditions. The vaccines are being given until 4 p.m. Thursday at the Tempe Campus Health Service outside in a tent near the University footbridge.

Newberg said students, faculty and staff who are 24 years and younger, as well as those caring for children under 6 months, can also get the vaccinations until 4 p.m. at the Campus Health Services South clinic located in the Sonora Residence Hall for students only and at the College of Nursing & Health Innovation 2 Conference Center on the Downtown Phoenix Campus.

West, Polytechnic and Downtown Phoenix campuses will provide vaccinations to priority risk groups during their vaccination times, including students, faculty and staff who are 24 year old and younger and those who are caring for children under the age of 6 months.

Newberg said students, faculty and staff must show their ASU SunCard to receive a vaccine.

There is a $10 fee for the vaccine for students. ABOR Aetna Student Health Insurance will cover the cost of the vaccination for those students. Benefit-eligible employees´ administration fee will be covered in the same manner as the seasonal flu vaccinations.

People who have already had H1N1 flu that has been confirmed through testing do not need to get the vaccine.

If you are planning on attending the H1N1 clinic bring the completed consent form to help expedite the process.
