TEMPE, AZ -- Each year, the City of Tempe and Arizona Fish and Game host "Welcome Back the Trout."
Dozens of people from around the Valley visited the SRP Town Lake Marina Tuesday to watch as more than 3,000 rainbow trout were released into Tempe's man-made lake.
Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and a few little helpers carefully netted the first few dozen into the lake, allowing an up-close look at the pretty fish.
Arizona Game and Fish provided rods, reels and bait, and even lessons on casting.
The free event continued traditions from past celebrations, with Chuck E. Baby and the All Stars performing everyone's favorite fishing tunes to add fun to the festivities.
This is the fourth year the band has played for anglers at the lake.
SRP Town Lake Marina is located in Tempe, south of Curry Road on College Avenue.
