Tempe, AZ -- At about midnight 12 a.m. Monday, residents awoke to see cars on fire at the Concord Village Apartments in Tempe.

One was fully involved while as many as three others were starting to ignite at the complex located
near Scottsdale Road and Continental Drive.

The Tempe Fire Department responded quickly and was able to prevent the flames from spreading to other cars and homes.

Also damaged in the fire was a wheelchair that was inside the burnt car.

The fires appear to be arson, according to investigators.

Residents say that rags were placed in the gas tanks of the cars and then lit on fire.
