TEMPE, AZ -- An event to raise scholarship money pitted Arizona State University fraternity sisters and brothers against each other on tricycles Saturday.
The men and women of the Greek fraternities and other campus groups were raising money for the Cancer for College Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships to students battling cancer.
The Trike-La-Thon, held at the Scottsdale Six Drive-in Theater, wrapped up a week of fundraising activities, according to a news release.
The women were at the wheel of the trikes while the men worked in the pits to perform a mandatory pit stop, swapping out the rear tires of the tricycles.
They also competed on Thursday night on the ASU Campus, in a Queen Contest and a Trike Tough Guy Contest.
The money raised helps students dealing with cancer pay tuition costs so they can stay in school.
Students interested in applying for a Cancer For College grant can obtain applications at the ASU Greek Life Office, ASU Student Health Services, ASU Financial Aid Office or online at
