MESA, AZ -- There will be an extra presence outside of Desert Ridge Junior High School this week after two men tried to lure a student into their car on Monday.

In a letter sent home to parents, principal Jean Woods said the incident happened in the Augusta Ranch neighborhood, near Ellsworth and Baseline roads, Monday morning before school.

The two men were reportedly driving a silver Toyota RAV4.

The men pulled up next to the student who was on a bicycle and tried to talk the student into getting in their car.

According to the letter, the student immediately rode back home.

The school is within Mesa city limits but falls in the Gilbert Public School District.

Calls to the Gilbert School District spokesperson were not returned.

The letter did not include any description of the suspects.

Mesa Police Department Spokesperson Detective Steve Berry confirmed a police report was filed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 480-644-2324.
