MESA, AZ -- A Banner Health employee has been accused of stealing personal information from hundreds of patients.

According to court paperwork, Scottsdale police detectives found hundreds of bills in 28-year-old Dewayne Johnson's Mesa home.

The bills had the names, addresses, and credit card numbers of patients who had mailed in payments for recent hospital care.

Police said Johnson admitted to making approximately 50 online purchases for a list of items including a 50 inch plasma TV, jewelry, clothing, and workout equipment.

Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark said Johnson had the items delivered to unsuspecting co-workers.

"He was trying to avoid having the items shipped to his house to cover his tracks. But,  when we got to the folks who actually accepted the delivery they said they were
accepting delivery for our suspect," Clark said.

Clark said their investigation started last month after Harkins Theatres reported to police they had processed three online ticket purchases using different stolen credit cards.

Police said Johnson bought 150 movie tickets and was selling them for $5 each.

When detectives began to retrace each victim's credit card use, they apparently found all had used their cards to make payments at Banner Health in Mesa.

Bill Byron, a Banner Health spokesperson, said Johnson was a "self-pay" representative.

He was fired from his job after being arrested, according to Byron.
