MESA, AZ -- A trail of pizza and wing sauce helped police catch two men accused of attacking a pizza delivery man early Saturday, according to officials.
Police say the pizza delivery man told them he was lured into a vacant apartment at the Sycamore Shadows Apartment complex by two men around 4 a.m.
When the victim reached into his bag to get the pizzas, police say one of the suspects hit him over the head with a coffee pot. The two men then grabbed the pizza bags and took off.
Police were able to follow a trail of pizza and wing sauce to an apartment in the same complex near Sycamore Street and Southern Avenue.
Officers reportedly found 18-year-old Michael Dornan and 23-year-old Michael Le-Andre inside.
The victim identified the two suspects as the men who attacked him and once officers were allowed inside the apartment they say they found the pizza, wings and pizza bag in a bedroom.
Mesa police say Dornan admitted to hitting the pizza delivery man over the head with a coffee pot. Le-Andre did not admit to the robbery, but officers say he had pizza sauce on his pants and shirt.
Dornan was arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery. Le-Andre was charged with armed robbery and failure to identify himself to an officer.
