Mesa copper thieves take wire worth more than $2,000

MESA, AZ -- Police are asking for help finding the person or people responsible for stealing copper wire worth more than $2,400 from an area in East Mesa.

According to the CitizenObserver website, someone reported the copper wire missing from a location near the 5400 block of E. Inverness Avenue on Wednesday, July 1.

A Mesa Police Department press release stated, "This is an ongoing problem for the City of Mesa which impact our fiscal resources.  These incidents are predominantly occurring at night, and (it) requires time to perpetrate these crimes."

They are asking people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
 
Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is urged to call the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211, or report it anonymously using the CitzenObserver website.
