MESA, AZ -- Firefighters from three cities are working to put out a fire at an east Valley home Wednesday afternoon.
Mesa Fire Department Spokesman Mike Dunn said someone was in the home cleaning the carpets around 1:45 p.m. when they noticed smoke coming from a garage door in the two-story home near McKellips and Power roads.

At least 45 firefighters from Mesa, Gilbert and Apache Junction battled the first alarm blaze, Dunn said.
He said the fire quickly spread to the attic, forcing firefighters from inside the home and into a defensive firefighting mode.
Air15 video showed the front of the home blackened in what appeared to be a garage and upper floor.
A van parked outside appeared to have been burned also.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
