It doesn't take long for a child to drown or end up with permanent brain damage from a "near drowning". A trip to the bathroom or to answer the phone is long enough. Or maybe taking an interest in a silly commercial on the TV or making a piece of toast. I met a beautiful little three year old girl years ago...a near drowning victim. She was leaning to the side in her wheelchair, her body stiff...staring at nothing, not seeing a thing and drooling. I saw her again 4-5 years later at a facility . She was leaning to the side in her wheelchair, her body stiff...staring at nothing, not seeing a thing and drooling. I hope someday more people will get the message.

IN MY OPINION I THINK IT IS HORRIBLE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHILD . BUT THE PARENTS HAVE ENOUGH GUILT THAT WILL HAUNT THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AND YES IT IS QUITE EASY TO WATCH YOUR CHILDREN AROUND WHY PEOPLE DONT DO IT WE MAY NEVER KNOW .

There is no excuse for this negligence at all. It cost a baby boy to die needlessly due to a stupid ignorant adult who leaves the pool unattended, along with other youngsters....what was the thought here? Just turn on the tv or radio and hear the consistant warnings about doing that. This is "criminal negligence" and should be punished accordingly under the law, no matter who is crying out loud now to save their butts from being charged and go to prison, if not, the inner guilt for killing this child will get youuuuuuuuu for this the rest of your lame useless lives.

So the leftist aka progressives want to use the chant of “child endangerment and child neglect” to force term limits on America. What law can we pass that would have prevented this accident from happening?

cactusjumper - 7/5/2009 1:03 AM
Child endangerment and child neglect can be legislated, the people have to find a legislator who will take the time to get off thier lazy aassses long enough to fight for a new law. These clowns seem to think once they're in office you're supposed to fill thier fantasy fund lavishly so they will remember they got something the people want taken care of. Most senators that go to congress with all thier promises have brainfarts once they get there and they never do what they've promised and most of them stay in Congress for YEARS never doing crap for thier constituents. They should be made to serve only 1 or2 terms and it's time to get new people otherwise these clowns stay there forever being USELESS. Like John Sanctuary McAmnesty.

Unfortunately, you can't legislate common sense.

Day after day month after month year after year we hear about yet another child drowning and how it is the up most impotents WE MUST WATCH OUR CHILDREN AROUND WATER and yet we are hearing about another child has drowned. You would think by now parents would have the understanding to WATCH THE KIDS AROUND WATER. So if by now parents cant or wont understand plain English (I am sure it is also in Spanish) then lets hold them to the responsibility and charge them with no less then child endangerment.. As parents it is our responsibility to keep our children safe from harm in side the home and out side. I feel for the other children

It's not so much losing track of a toddler for 15 minutes. That can happen while doing perfectly normal things like being in a bathroom cleaning, while your kids play in their room. The problem is that somehow the baby was able to get into the backyard, where there was a pool. This could easily have happened in the middle of the night while the parents were sleeping, kids can be really, really quiet when they want to be. Parents need to SECURE THE ACCESS TO THE POOL, along with reasonable supervision. When outside by the pool, then 100% supervision by at least one adult. Even if nobody is using the pool.

amen Hold the parents responcible. It is no less then child endangerment. lock the parents up.

I have no more words to express the outrage about this situation, makes me wonder ARE PEOPLE / PARENTS that stupid to loose track of their little ones for over 15 minutes? Time and time again fire dept says" WATCH YOUR KIDS AROUND WATER". Its time to make some kind of law so parents or adults get charged for this kind of accidents. Since there is not such a law more kids keep drowning. I bet anything once they have this law people either watch their kids or eliminate swimming pools. But who are we to make this to make it happened?.
