How disgusting; that little tyke's body wasn't even cold and gun control creeps started dragging his lifeless body through the streets for their political agenda. This from Governor Napolitano's (hardly a shill for the NRA) website concerning preventable childhood deaths. A child is more likely to die from a horseback riding accident or electrocution than a gun accident.

Trigger locks and a gun safe? Why not move the gun safe containing the guns with trigger locks to a room with a vault door?

make the owner accountable for his/her lack of parenting...kids have a way of searching out hidden "no-no's" in their homes; Knowledge kills stupidity...like many of your comments below do prove. Make the adult accountable; it may get others to do the same...so sad, my condolences to this child's loved ones...

So sad..May God give this family peace during thier grief. Most newer guns have double safeties on them so if one is chambered it (supposedly) will not fire. I own a couple and so far, so good. I was raised around guns. My grandpa let me fire my first 12ga. at the age of 6 just to show me how powerful guns were. It knocked me on my ass. It also made a believer out of me what people can destroy when firing guns. I was taught guns(people) will KILL me and they aren't TOYS. We had lots of guns in the house(with 5 siblings) and never had a problem with sneaky secret investigations of how guns work. My father and uncles taught the family early to resprct guns. This father never did that and now his son is dead.

Law will not prevent stupidity, Hang on, the world is getting worse.

Thats what they want to do already City Hawk. The only thing is that they cant enforce a law like that unless they come to inspect your home.Or something like this, you get robbed and dont have an explanation as to how they got your guns if they werent secure. We can go that route, but for myself its going to be hard to find places to stash the bodies of "home inspectors" and run of the mill theives after only a very short time.Neither will get far beyond the front door in my abode.Politicians are not humanly capable of doing the right thing and only charging negligent parents. You know, common sense?

I own over 30 guns and every one of them is in a gun safe and every one has a lock. It is the only way. My kids are now in their upper teens and still have never been in my gun safe. I was never worried about it with my kids with the guns because of my gun safety. I wish other people would do and feel the same way as I do. Maybe we need to start charging the parents that don't provide gun safety before their child or other children get to the guns.

Sammy,by law gun locks must be provided with all commercialy sold guns.I have a stack of em.I take em off and stick em in a box.I also went and got them for free at several publicized events promoting gun safety.I give them to anyone who asks for them.I have a safe and the kids are all grown,so I do have loaded guns around the house.I know where they are at all times and when the grandkid visits they are all secure.I never had any kids of my own,I married my wife when the youngest was five, and it took some rightful chastizing to get me to understand the importance of keeping guns secure from little hands but I was open to learning and I got it.Thank God,before anything like this happened.

How does everybody know that this was, in fact, an accident? Is the police investigation still underway?

How much does a gun lock coast now a days $10.00 tops?
