MESA, AZ – Firefighters battled a large fire at a Mesa home on Tuesday afternoon.
Mesa Fire Department Spokesperson Mike Dunn said crews were called to the scene near Broadway and Dobson roads at 3:45 p.m.

Dunn said explosions heard coming from the fire were from welding equipment; the owner reportedly works on motorcycles and a couple were lost in the fire.
Dunn said a family inside did get out of the home safely. He said they are now staying with relatives.
It is unclear at this time how the fire started.
