GILBERT AZ -- Crews from the Gilbert Fire Department wearing pink shirts and handing out brochures in support of breast cancer awareness month.
Wednesday, firefighters were near Guadalupe and Higley encouraging people to get checked for breast cancer on a regular basis.
“All of us have been touched by this somehow, some way,” Gilbert Fire Captain Dan Reynolds said. “It’s such a cruel disease, it’s so wide spread. I think that’s the reason we’re out here, to make sure people stay aware.”
This is the departments second year donning the color pink. Crews say they hope it will become an annual tradition.
