CHANDLER, AZ -- A popular public dog park in Chandler may have its hours reduced because of a battle between area residents and dog owners.

The concerns are centered on Shawnee Bark Park, located near Warner and Alma School roads.

A residents committee recently told city officials that neighbors are upset over several problems stemming from the dog park, including fights, barking and odor from people not picking up their pet's waste.

They have recommended limiting the hours at the park and installing locked gates.

The matter will be discussed at a Parks Board meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Shawnee Bark Park is one of three dog facilities in the city. It is open from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.
