CHANDLER, AZ -- A Valley man and his son are still missing after they failed to return last month following a court-ordered visitation, according to Chandler police.
James Anthony Kaiser and Benjamin Kaiser-Griffin, 9, have not been seen or heard from since May 21 when James took his son into temporary custody for one week as allowed by court order.
After they failed to return, police found Kaiser’s Tempe residence vacant, causing investigators to suspect that he has taken his son and moved to an unknown location.
In the past, Kaiser has taken his son to Hawaii and expressed a desire to move there. Kaiser also has known contacts in Washington and Mexico, police say.
The mother of Benjamin Kaiser-Griffin apparently has full custody, while Kaiser is only awarded court-ordered visitation rights.
Since Kaiser failed to return his son after the one week allotted visitation, he is currently “in non-compliance of a standing court order,” Chandler Det. Frank Mendoza said.
