Click the play button on the video window to the right to see the storyI took the Daphne Cam along with us to our Hot Dog Challenge shoot last week.
We were at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute to have chefs in training be our judges and give us some Smart Shopping tips when shopping at the grocery store. By the way just in case you missed the story it aired on Sunday at 10 p.m. and Nathan’s hot dogs won as the best tasting.
I figured since these future chefs are in school they had some great tips on saving money.
Pedro had some excellent advice when shopping at the grocery store. He said stay in the outer rows and of the store and don’t go in the middle aisles. Everything you need is in the outer parameters, like dairy, produce meats, bread. He said if you go in the middle you might end up buying something you really don’t need. To add to that be aware of those items when you check out. You can live without that candy bar.
Also Heather had some good advice on shopping at the grocery store too. She said eat before you go. I need to follow that advice. It is guaranteed that if I go to the grocery store hungry I always end up getting more than what I went in for. So follow Heather’s advice and I will too, in the long run we will save money and only buy what I need, not what our stomach wants.
Some great tips and lots of fun hanging out at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, I can’t wait to eat some of their creations and I wish you all the best of luck and keep those taste buds in tact.
