I headed to Goodwill this past week with my camera and ran into some shoppers who had some excellent advice.

My first Smart Shopper we ran into was Jack. We found him looking at the movie section of the store. Jack says he only buys things on sale but he also shops at Goodwill to find deals on movies and books. He gave us an example, the movie “Lawrence of Arabia” cost $3 at Goodwill and he said if you go on the Saturdays when Goodwill has everything in the store for 50% off you can get the movie for only $1.50.

Our next Smart Shopper, Melissa, is a full time mom and she hits all of the 42 Goodwill locations and Savers stores and buys the books and sells them on the Internet for a profit. Wow Melissa you are such a smart gal. I love thinking out of the box.  I have to say, I am really impressed with this advice.

Jeanine is another frugal shopper. She points out how many folks are shopping at Thrift stores that normally would not. I love shopping at non-profit thrift stores because it is a win-win all around. Folks get rid of stuff they no longer need and then someone can buy it for an awesome price and the profits go back to helping people in our community that really need it. From now on if I ever need some bargain shopping advice I am going to ask folks I know who to ask... those who are really saving and shopping at thrift stores.
