The newest hotel in Tempe is set to open February 5, 2009, with what the general manager calls a refreshing new spin on a hotel atmosphere that caters to a tech-savvy guest.
According to the hotel General Manager, Jamie Metzger, the Aloft is the first new-build hotel in Tempe in ten years.
"The brand is exciting," he said. "What they're looking for," he added while describing the self-serve check-in process that guests can choose.
Metzger described it as a touch-and-go service. Similar to an airline check-in kiosk, a guest would put a credit card into the system, and when the system recognizes the guest, the person can choose the room in which they would like to stay by looking at an electronic map on a computer screen.
Metzger said he is not worried about opening a business in a down economy.
"A lot of people are abuzz about this brand," he said, explaining his expectation that the hotel will attract frequent travelers and businessmen and women in addition to regular people who are curious.
The five-story hotel contains 136 rooms. They are "tailored for the on-the-go and the in-the known traveler," according to press release promoting the hotel. "Guest rooms featured the latest in modern design elements, including nine-foot ceilings, oversized windows and large stylish bathrooms, creating a spacious retreat," it said.
Metzger said a nightly hotel stay could range in price from $189 to $359 depending on demand.
