Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross conceded the mayoral race to Jim Lane Wednesday afternoon.
Because the race was so close, within 500 votes at times, both candidates waited two weeks for the remaining early ballots to counted.
In a news release, Manross said, "I wish him the very best and also wish the new council success in leading our community. Scottsdale is an extraordinary city and we must remain committed to keeping it that way."
Manross was Mayor and a Council member for sixteen years. She ran on a platform to revitalize the city.
Councilman Lane, an accountant, is calling for greater fiscal responsibility and more open government.
