Gilbert police said a woman who disappeared last week left on her own, returned on her own, and was not the victim of foul play.

Anne Carver returned home early Thursday morning, according to a police official.

The 34-year-old disappeared last Monday during an early morning jog with her dog Xena.

Gilbert police spokesman Mark Marino said they were contacted by a family member at about 1:15 a.m. and told Carver, 34, had returned home.

He said she appeared to be in good physical condition but was taken to a Valley hospital to be evaluated.

There are still no answers as to what Carver did during the time she was gone, but Gilbert police said they have closed the case.

According to the family, Carver left a note Monday that said she would return "soon", but Carver never returned home.

Reportedly, a neighbor first located the dog wandering near their house and escorted the dog back to the house where Carver lived with her parents.

Searchers looked for Carver in the area near Greenfield and Queen Creek roads.

A police helicopter with special infrared night vision circled a Gilbert neighborhood Monday night.

Tuesday, a Sheriff's K-9 unit, including a bloodhound, searched the area trying to pick up the woman's scent.

Dawndi McAdams, a friend of Carver's family, searched the community on horseback.

She and her husband started searching early in the morning looking in dry basins and brush.

Other friends gathered late Tuesday afternoon, carrying flyers to post on store windows.

"She's a very beautiful, responsible young woman," said Marianne Williams, Carver's mother.

"It's just like she vanished," said Larry Williams, her father.

"To us, it's totally - just totally out of bounds," said Tyler Williams, describing his sister's disappearance.
