The driver of a bus that collided with a light rail train Tuesday has been given a citation for a red light violation, according to police.
Police said Wednesday that there was only one person at this point who they can confirm saw the collision from start to finish. The witness reportedly provided information that, in part, led to the red light violation citation being issued.
The investigation is ongoing, according to police and they ask anyone with information call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
Police reported that four people received minor injuries in the collision Tuesday.
The train and ORBIT bus collided near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard at about 1 p.m.
Officials say the city-run Orbit bus was headed east on Lemon Street when it collided with the train, which was headed southbound along Terrace Street.
One witness on the bus told ABC15 Tuesday that the light turned green for the bus when the train came through the intersection. They said the bus driver tried to avoid the train, but was hit on the driver's side.
Police said the bus driver and a passenger were taken to a Valley hospital and the other two were treated and released at the scene.
There were reportedly more than a dozen poeple on the bus.
