A Mesa woman was arrested for biting a police officer who ordered her to stop passing out bottles of beer to the homeless at a food bank earlier this week.
Linda Lewis, 55, was arrested at about 6 p.m. Monday outside Paz De Cristo food bank at Country Club and Broadway. Police say she was passing out beer in the dining room from behind a concrete wall.
When an officer told Lewis to stop, the officer said Lewis bit her hand. The officer said she will likely have to undergo a series of tests to make sure she won’t get an infection from the bite, which left a red mark with teeth imprints, according to police.
Lewis faces aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer and criminal trespassing charges.
