Man robs armored car guard in Tempe, escapes in getaway car

A man robbed an armored car guard outside a Tempe credit union Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect walked up to the guard with a gun and demanded he get on the ground.
 
The suspect then grabbed the guard's money bag and ran off.

Sgt. Scott Smith said the gunman got into a getaway car waiting about a block away from the Arizona Central Credit Union near Southern Ave and Price.

No one was hurt.

Smith said the gunman was a white man in his 30s, six feet one inches tall, and about 230 pounds.

The getaway car is described as a 2007-2008 white Nissan Ultima or Maxima.
