Imagine being able to fold your laptop and put it in your pocket!

It may seem impossible, but this new technology is not far off thanks to Hewlett Packard and Arizona State University, who have teamed up to create flexible computer displays.

The Flexible Display Center at ASU has been working on creating the displays since 2004 and so far the U.S. Army has invested nearly $44 million in research.

The Army is interested in the technology for combat soldiers who would be able to easily carry the devices instead of the large, bulky equipment they currently have.

The Army would be able to quickly send valuable information to soldiers in the field. For instance: enemy positions, surroundings, maps and information about buildings soldiers may be planning to enter.

Though it may seem far off, this technology could be in consumer’s hands as early as next year.
