Phoenix police are reportedly closer Friday to making arrests in the death of an 84-year-old businessman found murdered in his office Tuesday night.

Sources close to the investigation told ABC15 Thursday night that two men were taken into custody in California and that Phoenix police detectives were heading there.

Shuman's missing 1998 gold colored Lexus was located Thursday in San Bernardino, California.

Police had been searching for it since Shuman's body was discovered Tuesday night inside his real estate office near 7th Avenue and Camelback Road.

He was beaten to death, but police are not releasing many more details for investigative purposes.

A relative of the victim, who did not want to give her name, told ABC15 the victim failed to show up for dinner prompting relatives to call police.

Co-workers said Shuman was a healthy and active man. Even at the age of 84, he played racquetball nearly every day.

Friends also said Shuman was proud to be one of the first-ever season ticket holders to Phoenix Suns basketball games.

The victim, according to those at the scene, was a well-known businessman involved in real estate for decades.

The victim's family member told ABC15 the man had owned Standard Realty & Development Co. for 40 years.

State records indicate Shuman had been licensed as a real estate broker in Arizona since 1968.

Shuman was also heavily involved in the Jewish community. He even served as president for two years at the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix.

Few details were made available Thursday night regarding the arrests of two suspects in California.
