PHOENIX -- Police say four people were transported to Valley hospitals with critical injuries after a collision between a pickup truck and passenger car in Phoenix Sunday morning.
Phoenix police Lt. Michael Rivera said three people were inside a Honda Accord when it collided with a Ford pickup truck near 43rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road about 9:45 a.m.
Video showed a corner street sign with signal lights had been sheered off at the base.
The pickup truck was extensively damaged, and video of the Honda showed a pile of twisted metal.
According to Rivera, it appeared impairment on the part of the driver of the Honda was a factor in the wreck.
Rivera said the victims' injuries were considered to be life-threatening.
