PHOENIX – Desert Schools Federal Credit Union is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of ripping off three of the company’s branches in a quick-change scheme.
Jason Meyers, with Desert Schools, said recent surveillance photos show the man at the credit union’s Lower Buckeye Walmart branch in Phoenix. The same man was also seen at two Mesa branches.
Meyers said in each incident the suspect allegedly steals cash by asking for multiple change transactions to confuse tellers.
A spokesperson for Desert Schools said the man exchanges $20 bills for larger bills and then claims he was short-changed.
Authorities are worried the suspect may be trying similar scams at other businesses around the Valley.
The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 35 and 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 200 to 250 pounds.
He was seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jogging pants and a black baseball cap.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is urged to call police.
