PHOENIX – Blog publishing giant,
WordPress held its Phoenix WordCamp conference at the Arizona Grand Resort on Friday.
Friday’s conference was unlike other events in that it was streamed live for those who could not attend in person. The conference was also made available for download afterward.
Internet leaders like WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg and
43folders.com creator Merlin Mann were on-hand for the event.
WordCamp was aimed at helping attendees improve their WordPress Web sites.
The day-long event gave attendees access to influential insiders who specialize in topics such as Search Engine Optimization, Web site content, video blogging and online marketing.
There was also a special round-table featuring Mullenweg, Joshua Strebel, president of
Obu Web Technologies, a Web Design and Web Development agency and Chuck Reynolds, Web Strategist at
rYnoweb.
“For those who don't blog they want to know what's all the excitement about, what's the jazz about," said Lorelle VanFossen with WordPress. "They've walked up to that fence now instead of sitting on it they want to cross over it and it's really exciting.”
Arizona-based
GoDaddy.com, sponsored the Phoenix WordCamp.
"WordPress has helped so many businesses and people worldwide," said Chuck Reynolds, a long-time WordPress developer and advocate, who is the key organizer for Phoenix WordCamp. "I'm excited to finally bring this great event to Phoenix, have it streamed live and recorded to share with everybody. We have a great line-up of speakers and topics, an Experts' Bar to help with attendees' questions. Our sponsor GoDaddy.com is pulling out all the stops to help make this one of the best WordCamps of the year!"
No other WordCamp has had streaming to the scale of this event.
"We wanted to make Phoenix WordCamp accessible for
everyone, not just people here in the Valley," said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. "More and more people are interested in learning how to maximize their online opportunities and this event is an excellent resource. We're going to give this WordCamp some first-rate Go Daddy GO!"
