PHOENIX -- Valley parents can advantage of an opportunity to have their children immunized at free clinic today.
It is the one of several events to be held this summer at Food City grocery stores in the Phoenix area.
Partnering with the Phoenix Fire Department Food City is holding the clinics in July, just before most children and teens go back to school.
According to a news release, during the clinics, fire department paramedics administer the following licensed vaccines:
- Diptheria * Purtussis * Tetanus * Polio * Measles * Mumps
- Rubella * Haemophilus Influenza Type B (HIB) * Hepatitis A * Hepatitis
- Pneumococcus * Varicella (Chickenpox) * Meningococcus
All children and teens aged six weeks to 18 years will be immunized regardless of insurance status. No appointments are necessary for the shots but immunization records must be brought to the clinic.
Officials say typically, a child will need 12-15 immunizations by 12 months, and the cost of just one immunization can range from $10 to $40.
The clinics are part of Niños Seguros, Seguro Que Sí, a year-round public service program that reinforces the importance of safeguarding children.
Future immunization clinics will take place at the following Food City stores in Phoenix:
