PHOENIX - Memorial plaques have now been put up for 33 of the 34 Phoenix Police officers who have died while on the job since the department started keeping records in 1925.
The department is honoring the officers with memorial markers at the intersections where they lost their lives in the line of duty.
So far this year, markers have been placed for Officers George Cortez, David Uribe, and Nick Erfle.
The last marker will be dedicated in October on the 1-year anniversary of the death of Officer Shane Figueroa who was killed when a suspected drunk driver hit his patrol car.

Memorial dedicated to fallen officer at Phoenix intersection: April 2009
Family and friend met to dedicate a memorial Friday in honor of fallen Phoenix Police Officer David Uribe.
"He's just a wonderful guy and we all loved him dearly,'" said Officer James Holmes.
Uribe was shot and killed on May 10th, 2005 while conducting a traffic stop in Phoenix at 35th Avenue and Cactus.
Now a sign stands at that location as a permanent memorial to Uribe's life, so everyone who drives by can remember him in their own way.
"He was my neighbor and the reason why I am on the Phoenix Police Department right now," said Holmes.
Four years after officer Uribe's death, Holmes said he still misses his friend.
"He was an absolutely wonderful man," said Holmes. "He has a wonderful family. I enjoyed being his neighbor more than being a fellow officer."
Holmes said he doesn't know if it's ever going to be easy to accept Uribe's passing, but it does get more tolerable.
"I think i will just smile, that young man touched so many lives and so many hearts. I think i'll just smile," said Holmes.
