I have known Jeremiah for only a handful of years, but I am not surprised at all by his act of quick thinking, bravery, and willingness to help others. He has demonstrated these qualities many times since I have known him. These are just a few qualities that make me proud to call him "friend." He and his family have not had an easy road in life, but they have faced every obstacle put in their way head on and endured them all together. They are a strong, resilient family who can certainly overcome this most recent hardship. But, maybe someone out there has the means be a hero to the Banister family just as Jeremiah was a hero to Shauntae Ortiz. Not by risking your life or your health to save them, but simply by putting someone else's needs before your own to help ease their struggle. This family is deserving and would most certainly be appreciative of any help they receive. I'm proud of you, Jeremiah!

Thank you Arizona for all the positive comments! Yes my husband is a hero in my eyes and yes our car is in BAD condition! My husband risked his life & possibly hurting himself for not only does he have this rare illness inside his spinal cord to top things off he is still in the recovery process of 2 cadaver transplants in his femur, as well as major hip surgery!!! I am very proud of my husband!!!! He was in the right place at the right time... so many cars stopped to look but NO ONE & I mean NO one stopped to even help... : ( that is sad!) I am Proud that he has stopped at any time of the day to do the simplest thing for a complete stranger...even the use of his cell phone... So all the questions are answered Ortiz's breaks were on fire and she could not stop!!! They did not report about the semi-truck driver that actually called 911 from Greenway and I-17 where the fire actually started, the truck driver Al stated that he saw her hitting her brakes from Greenway Ave but the car was not stopping! I am not sure why but the emergency brakes and brakes were not working at all. Al was helpless because of the size of his vehicle he would of made contact with her Ortiz would not be alive for this story ... So when Jeremiah pulled up next to her to tell her that the vehicle was on fire. she screamed I can not stop! That is when my husband took action. Thank you all for your support for God nows we need it... it has been one roller coaster ride of a week!

I know Jeremiah. And from what I hear the insurance company is giving him a hard time. He is definately someone who deserves the opportunity to be honored for his gutsy and life saving actions. He risked his own life and his only valued property to save a womans life. Lets honor him.
