PHOENIX -- A Phoenix business damaged in the summer fire that destroyed Richardson's restaurant celebrated it's grand re-opening Sunday.

Luci's Healthy Marketplace, located at the corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road, suffered smoke and water damage during the big July 17th fire.

The fire broke out only three and a half months after Luci's had opened for business.

"I drove over in disbelief to find the corner ablaze," said customer Joel Robin Goldenthal. "My heart just sunk."

Everything inside Luci's, from floor to ceiling, had to be replaced.

As many as eight dozen firefighters were brought in to fight the blaze as temperatures climbed to 113 degrees.

A firefighter and a television news photographer were transported to a Valley hospital for heat-related illness, however no other injuries were reported.

"I remember noticing it was burned and thinking 'shoot, it just got going and now we've lost it'," said customer Patricia Scott.

But thanks to some hard work and determination, Luci's celebrated it's grand re-opening Sunday.

Owner Luci Schnitzer gave Phoenix firefighters a plaque to thank them for giving her the chance to re-build.

"Basically, that's what we do," said firefighter Carlos San Miguel. "It's our job to do what we did that day."

"It's victory to be here today and say we're open again," Schnitzer said proudly.
