PHOENIX – Two suspects have been arrested in the murder of a man during an armed robbery at a Phoenix home two years ago, according to police on Friday.
Sergeant Andy Hill with the Phoenix Police Department said 31-year-old Arthur Sosa, 34-year-old Romeo Martinez-Garcia, and 23-year-old Alfredo Simental went to a house near Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road on October 20, 2007 with the intention to hold a victim ransom for a large amount of money.
During the course of the robbery and kidnapping, 29-year-old Tabakee Limtom, who was not the original intended kidnapping victim, was shot and killed while trying to escape from the house, according to police.
The suspects reportedly fled in a vehicle, which was recovered on October 24th 2007.
Hill said shortly after the murder, Simental was killed. His homicide is currently under investigation.
Information was reportedly received in December 2007 of Alfredo Simental's involvement in the murder of Limtom.
On Monday, Arthur Sosa was interviewed reference the robbery and kidnapping of Limtom.
Romeo Martinez-Garcia was subsequently also identified as a suspect, according to Hill.
On Wednesday, Romeo Martinez-Garcia was located and questioned.
Hill said, based upon a combination of information, forensic evidence and interviews, Arthur Sosa and Romeo Martinez-Garcia were arrested and booked for Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Burglary and Kidnapping on Wednesday.
This investigation is continuing.
