MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ -- Joanne Souza said she suspected a pack of dogs may have been responsible for attacking four of her miniature horses. Two of the horses died.

Souza said the attacks started about a month ago, with the latest one occuring about a week ago.

Her miniature horse farm is in a rural part of the county near 7th Avenue and Carefree Highway.

The Phoenix woman thought right away a pack of dogs were to blame, then she said she heard of the latest attack occuring.

"I heard a yelp in my camera and came flying out," she said. Souza said she spotted a what appeared to be a black pitbull mix running away.

After the first attack Souza put up wire and mesh fencing between all the gates and installed cameras with video surveillance.

"I'm up to about $8,000 in fencing," she said.

In addition to the black dog sighting, Souza said her neighbors spotted three dogs standing near one of her fences.  She says she's worried the dogs will move from harming horses to people.

"When dogs pack it's dangerous, and they can go after kids," she said.

Arizona Game and Fish and the Department of Agriculture are said to be investigating.
