PHOENIX -- A Vegas headliner visited veterans at the VA Hospital in Phoenix Friday.
Singer Wayne Newton greeted vets and posed for pictures.
At one point, he even signed a woman’s pair of underwear and a year book.
Newton, who grew up in the Valley, is the keynote speaker at the veteran celebration luncheon.
The event raises money for veterans’ special needs that are not covered by the government.
“The reason the veteran touches me is the veterans have picked up the tab for everything America is about," Newton said. "The good things we have veterans have paid for some of them with their lives others with their limbs.”
The luncheon is part of the celebration leading up to the Phoenix VA Veterans’ Day Parade next week.
