At
wishuponahero.com, you make a wish and hope someone will be your hero and grant it.
Like a genie in a bottle, you can have three active wishes going at one time.
The site’s founder, David Girgenti, said he came up with the idea following the September 11
th attacks.

He saw a wall of photos and messages building near ground zero and thought there must be some way to create an online community of support.
But it wasn’t until Hurricane Katrina that he put his idea into motion.
Seeing the massive need generated by the historic hurricane prompted him to establish the website where people can help others directly.
“I'm the wish master, on the site that's my screen name," said Girgenti. "I make people's wishes come true, and you know what, it's the best job in the world.”
There are several categories for wishes from people looking for gently used baby clothes and school supplies to larger life-changing requests like a kidney transplant.
You’ll even find a section of people just looking for your prayers as they tackle a difficult situation.
Once you decide how you want to help you send that person a message through the website.
From there, it is up to the two parties to make the arrangement on how to send what’s needed.
In Arizona the site has granted 437 wishes, but another 295 are still available.
That's 295 chances to be someone’s hero because, as the site says, "everyone can help anyone."
“There's no better feeling than knowing that you helped somebody,” said Girgenti.
