An estimated 2,000 people met up at the Wells Fargo building in downtown Phoenix on Saturday morning.

“We’re marching to stand up to say, enough is enough Sherriff Joe Arpaio, you are abusing your power.” said Lydia Guzman, Vice President for Somos America.

The protesters marched from the Wells Fargo building to the Durango jail, where several Arpaio supporters waited to greet them.

“We are here to support our country and our sherriff, because we want people to come here legally, and not come across the border illegally,” said Julie Holmes, an Arpaio supporter.

Sherriff Arpaio was also on hand to express his thoughts.

“We treat everybody with dignity enforcing our laws,” said Arpaio, “That’s my message to their message.”

There were several heated words exchanged between the two sides, but no physical confrontations, and no arrests were made.
