PHOENIX – A bicyclist killed early Thursday after being hit by a car in Phoenix has been identified.

The accident happened at 31st Avenue and Indian School Road around 7:30 a.m. as the victim, 36-year-old Thomas F. Davis, was apparently walking to work.

Luis Samudio with the Phoenix Police Department said Davis was crossing 31st Avenue in the crosswalk when he was hit by an 18-year-old driver.

According to investigators, the bicyclist crossed southbound against a red signal while the driver of the vehicle was westbound at a high rate of speed.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Video from Air15 showed a bicycle under the front of a car in the road.

Nothing has indicated that alcohol is a factor in the investigation, police said.

Based on the investigation to this point, no charges have been placed against the driver.
