Phoenix PD: Man gets hit jaywalking, driver flees scene

PHOENIX -- A man was injured Sunday after he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing a Phoenix street, officials said.

ABC15 spoke with Phoenix police, who said the victim was jaywalking near 5th Street and McDowell Road in Phoenix Sunday evening when he was struck by a large sedan.

Officials said the driver allegedly fled the scene.

Police were able to apprehend the male driver and he was taken into custody just blocks away near 17th Street and McDowell Road.

Video obtained at the scene showed the suspect's vehicle had significant damage to the windshield.

Officials said the victim suffered a broken arm.
