Pedestrian fights for life after being hit on Phoenix street

PHOENIX – A man is fighting for life after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street ing Phoenix Tuesday night.

Detective James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department said an adult male was hit near the intersection of 28th and Van Buren streets around 6:45 p.m. 

Lieutenant Thomas with Phoenix PD said the man was crossing the street southbound in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound.

Thomas said the vehicle had a green light and the man was hit while walking against the light.

The man was transported to a Valley hospital and is reportedly in a coma with life threatening injuries.

Thomas said the driver of the car was an adult female and there are no signs of impairment on her part.

No charges have been made in the accident.
