"It's a real attention getter, I think they're great," said Sunrise Greyeagle who lives in the Coronado neighborhood.
Those living in the area near 10th Street and McDowell Road say the large vibrant birds aren't vicious.
"There should be a sign out here that says peacock crossing, because they're in the road a lot and you have to slow down," said Fiona Blake who lives in the area and doesn't mind the birds.
It appears many people do cruise the area hoping to catch a glimpse of the animals that are often seen in a zoo.
"Oh you should see it, there are people who drive through here and they'll look, turn their head, slow down and sometimes stop and just stare in disbelief," said Greyeagle while standing in her front yard.
The peacocks seem to move from yard to yard picking at weeds and grass, but some in the neighborhood say resident are feeding them.
"I don't think this is a good place for them, they're beautiful but personally I'm afraid of them," said Doreen Petrillo.
Some residents have complained that the birds are too loud in the early morning while sitting on roofs.
"You hear them squawking all the time and I think they do their business in people's lawns, so there are some people who don't want them around here," said Petrillo.
As for how the colorful birds got to the neighborhood, it depends who you ask.
Some people say the owners who brought the peacocks to the neighborhood no longer take ownership of them, while other residents say the original owner of the birds moved out of the neighborhood.
"I asked her (former peacock owner) if I could buy a couple, or five or whatever, and she said, 'No, we're taken them with us,'" said Greyeagle.
It's believed there are now as many as 15 peacocks in the neighborhood along with several newborns.
