According to Phoenix Police Lt. Darren Viner, the 84-year-old man was crossing midblock on 32nd Street near Roosevelt Street when he was hit.
Viner said the man made it across the northbound lanes and was starting to cross the southbound lanes of 32nd Street as vehicles stopped. The victim was struck by a driver who did not see him as he crossed the far lane.
The victim has not been identified.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck did stop and that impairment and speed are not factors in the accident.
