PHOENIX, AZ - It's been nearly one week since Tanya Robison said her family was attacked by bed bugs inside her room at the Budget Suites on Indian School and 7th Ave.

She said her husband and children slept on the floor for days because the hotel management refused to move them.

"Neither one of us slept for three days," said Robison, "We were up all night looking for bugs, making sure they weren't on the kids."

Robison said her family was about one week into their two-week stay at the Budget Suites when she decided to wash the sheets.

That night, she said the bugs started biting.

"I don't know if they knew about it and just wrapped it up and was hoping nobody would take it off," she said.

She said the bites turned her husband's foot black and blue and left welts all over her arm.

"They look like ticks," said Robison.

With sores still on her feet, she said she caught the critters on camera on the mattress and inside the bed's wood frame.

"You can lift up the bed and look in the seams and they're in the seams of the bed," said Robison.

But when the Robison family complained the first time, "He told me to take blanket and wrap it around the bed and sleep in it."

The second time they asked for another room.

That's when she said the manager told her, "Oh, it's just fleas," she said, "So he bombed the place and when we got back and him bombing it, we saw little bugs."

She said the reason hotel management wouldn't let them move is because, "He was scared that we would carry them from one room to the next."

Robison said her family couldn't afford to leave since they had pre-paid for the room.

She said management offered them a $20 laundry card for the inconvenience, but then blamed them for the bugs.

"I said that they were crazy," she said, "Basically what they said was they weren't there when you got there."

ABC15 spoke with a man who said he was the assistant manager, but wouldn't give his name or go on camera.

He said the bugs weren't there before.

He also told ABC15 they're waiting for the health department and will fully cooperate.

"I said you have a family right, and he said yeah, I said would you and your family sleep there? And, he said no."
