PHOENIX -- Officials say a fire at a central Phoenix restaurant spread quickly Saturday.
Phoenix Fire Department Spokesman Hugh Chase said the fire started at A&J Chicago Style Barbeque, in a strip mall near 16th Street north of Bethany Home Road, about 11:30 a.m.
Chase said the 1st alarm fire started in an interior wall and was able to spread. But firefighters contained it quickly, keeping it from spreading to other businesses, he said.
In July, another nearby restaurant was gutted by fire. Richardson's was called a total loss and owners plan to rebuild and reopen.
